Poetry/Prayer Day

Just wanted to share a couple of poems/prayers from a couple of books I’m reading. The first, from the book, The Fight, by John White is a poem by Franics of Assissi:

Lord, make me an intsrument of thy peace.
Where there is hatred let me sow love;
where there is injury, pardon;
where there is doubt, faith;
where there is despair, hope;
where there is darkness, light; and
where there is sadness, joy.

O Divine Master, grant that I may
not so much seek to be consoled as to console;
to be understood as to understand;
to be loved as to love;
for it is in the giving that we receive;
it is in pardoning that we are pardoned; and
it is in dying that we are born to eternal life.

The other is a poem from JI Packer from his book “Knowing God.” He writes:

Lord it belongs not to my care
Whether I die or live;
To love and share Thee is my share,
And this Thy grace must give.

If life be long, I will be glad,
That I may long obey;
If short – then why should I be sad
To soar to endless day?

    You are such a brat.

    Let me clarify my comment to those people that read mike’s blog. (Does anyone read it? 😉 ) The “you are such a brat” is in response to a comment he made on my blog… not to his post. I actually quite enjoyed his post. It is good to see him blogging again.
